:D Can a :D can anyone out there help.

I have a monoblock tap in the kitchen, recently changed the hot and cold valves and ever since when turning on the tap the handle spins and trying to turn the water on or off is very difficult .
I use a screwdriver and tighten the screw in the handle which stops the handle from spinning but given a few uses it becomes loose gain.
Any ideas what i can do?

An educated guess? The splines that the tap head screws on to do tend to differ in diameter and my guess is that you have replaced yours with one that is fractionally too small.
If you have the old inserts, count the number of splines, and measure the spline diameter with a vernier gauge or a micrometer, if you have one.
John :)

Check the old valve stems - some tap heads have a thin sleeve fitted between the handle and the spindle.

When dismantled, sometimes the sleeve pulls off the spindle with the handle, sometimes it pulls out the handle and stays stuck on the old valve spindle.

Without that sleeve, there would be nothing to engage the splines to turn the spindle. The screw is only there to stop the handle from falling off, not transmit the torque from handle to spindle.
