Hey if fitting a mono block bath tap, is it worth putting a bit of clear silicone on the o-ring that seals the tap to the bath to stop water getting through?

That's the whole point of the O ring.
However, no harm will come from your smear of silicone, and no-one will die, so if that makes you happy - do it
