What's the best way to remove mortar stains on brickwork after repointing? It is now 5 months since this repointing was done. I asked the builder about this after a month and was told it was from the old raked out mortar and it would 'weather off' after a couple of months. Would a pressure washer do the job? Here's how it looks - View media item 61464 View media item 61465 View media item 61467

That wont wear off for 30 or so years. You have had a poor job done there.

Those are not stains but more like actual mortar pressed in to the brick face and arris. Acid will weaken the mortar and even if a jet wash loosens some of it, then you will have edges of the joints which will then be susceptible to rain and frost penetration

You best bet, would be to tone the whole elevation down with a soot wash or proprietary solution
