mortar with anti crumbling additive

hi, sorry another question :)

I need to mix up a stiff 5/1 sand cement mortar to fix a shower tray.

I assume this means a fairly dry mix, i.e. not too runny?

Also, what should I use for the anti crumbling additive?

Personally, I tend to make it quite a wet mix with a bit of plasticiser (or washing up liquid solution if you like) in it. Lay it rippled (as for bricklaying), and tap gently flat with a rubber mallet if necessary, and leave overnight to set hard. Alternatively, use floor tile adhesive - same effect.

Never tried it to be honest. Worth priming the floor (ply you say elsewhere) with it anyway
