It is a Moorhen chick as it has a red beak, I always distinguish them from a Coot as their is an "R" in red and Moorhen but no "R" in Coot.

He's now in the care of the South Essex Wildlife Hospital. A few more pics for you.

Oh, he didn’t like being transported in a shoe box and kept getting his head stuck in the holes so I took him out and he happily sat on my lap all the way there.
