I’m trying to plan a kitchen extension and before I approach builder/architects I want to sanity check a few things.

I’ve attached an image, essentially the sink would move from its current location, only about a metre, but the water inlet and sink waste would need to move. With a block and beam floor, would this be difficult to do (ie add significant cost)?

Another similar problem is the internal soil pipe which is bang in the middle of the wall we’d want to open up. Again, is this something that could be relocated, or again would it add significant cost and be impractical?

We are considering adding a utility room (part of the original kitchen) in an area with no waste piping (washer), water supply not an issue was will be plumbed from above but would this be a case of opening up the flooring to find a pipe to plumb into?

What if anything is above the soil stack and what if anything is connected into the stack?
Anything can be moved given enough motivation and money.
Sure, there definitely are toilets connected to it in the floor above.

I guess I’m wondering if it would be permissible to say have a horizontal section to move it to an exterior wall or more convenient point. I understand I’ll need to consult building control but I’m just getting a feel on here.

In terms of adding/moving waste and inlet water on the ground floor would you consider this a major expense?

Soil pipe can be altered to suit, but will need to achieve a suitable fall along the length of the run, and ideally as straight as possible to the stack.

Water supplies are probably buried in the screed, so above the block and beam, drainage will be a different ball game, that will go straight through the blocks, so will be much more involved to move.

Yes the stack is conveniently placed based on the 3 bathroom locations - see simple image.

Doesn’t seem like a good idea to move it but it definitely gets in the way of our plans.

Interesting on the water supply, I thought it would be under too.

Whats the plan for the proposed extension? Single storey and you may get away with taking the stack through the wall and running it across the roofspace of the new build. 2 storey make life more interesting...
