Multi Finish plaster set in about 20 mins.

Hi

I'm just plastering a smallish patch. From the same batch of 5kg multi finish i got about 1hr's use yesterday afternoon. Today the rest of the bag set rock solid in about 20 mins. Water from mains in kitchen each time mixed in the same way. What happened?

Dunno about that, but a few years ago I had a chap in to do some skimming upstairs. There was no functioning bathroom up there, so I plumbed in a standpipe for him, and went to work. It was only when I got home that I found his note saying that I'd inadvertently plumbed it into the hot. He'd never had to work so quickly in his life.

If the bucket/tools weren't well cleaned, the gypsum from yesterday would have acted as an accelerator. But if you're sure everything was cleaned properly then your guess is as good as mine!
