My new shower/headache

.Does¬nt look to bad a job.

Except that the fuse and the cable probably cannot cope with the extra load. Otherwise its perfect
The job he thinks doesn't look too bad is replacing the 30A fuse with a higher rated MCB, and replacing the cable:
I presume 4m cable is used when it should be 6.Yes the fuse is 30amp when it should be 35.I did`nt see 35amp fuse wire .I shall have to get something more contemporary.Guess I`m going to have to rewire it.

I understand automotive electrics.Did`nt quite appreciate the amount of heat that could be generated by such a high wattage consumer item.I feel I understood what caused the problem and am now able to resolve it.(after some help from you)

I understand automotive electrics.
What happens if you drop a spanner across the terminals of your regular lead acid car battery, which is only 12V?
that's not the same as a high resistance connection.. it's a high current dead short, same as the welder... :)

closest thing in a car would be the.... cigarette lighter maybe?

Indeed, but if we look at more of what he wrote:

I was wondering if he didn't quite get the heating effect of current at all...
