Hi All,
I'm new here.... first post.. I hope you can help.
Ground floor of my extension is concrete block & beam.
I was planning on 80mm insulation & 70mm screed to match existing floor height 150mm. My problem is that my plumber (he's no longer my plumber after a load of problems) has laid the hot/cold/flow/return pipes in plastic clipped to the block & beam.
I was planning on laying the DPM & insulation this weekend & was looking for solutions on laying insulation over these pipes (most are on the perimeter, they cross 2 door thresholds & are generally 25mm in height, but in one area they cross over & are up to 60mm in height - this is in a zero foot fall area) & they are not everywhere, only about 10% of the perimeter.
I spoke with kingspan/ecotherm and celotex to get advice their advice was NOT to notch out the insulation to lay over the pipes. They said I could leave a void over the pipes & fill with the screed. Or I could lay a thinner layer of insulation over the pipes (say 55mm) to match up with the 80mm layer elsewhere.
What I really really don't want to do is re-run these pipes, but i'm not to keen in burying them in screed either - there are a number of Tees & elbows that would be under screed.
What does anyone think of skipping the screed and just going for 150mm insulation? & laying timber floor on top.
Thanks for all info & advice...
