Hiya,

I seem to be having the same problem as a lot of you with my boiler. It will not fire up from the timer, it worked perfectly last winter, but the summer seems to have sent it into melt down. It is only 2 1/2 years old.
Can you tell me what is a PCB please? I haven spoken to the tech guys and they said my room stat was the problem, the stat works tho when the boiler is on constant, please can anyone help me? Have already has a new clock/timer when it was under 12 months old!! nightmare or what? :(

Ok its a 24i, is that the W/B 24i junior.
More detail on make and model is required

Is the light flashing on the receiver once per second or flashing very fast?
If so batteries are low/gone in the room stat

Was this boiler installed correctly by a RGI?
Serviced according to spec?
This boiler is one of the typical choices of cowboys that get the job because they were the cheapest of 7 quotes; the quality of such jobs often leaves to be desired.

It's all well and good saying because it was likely cheap then the job is a bodge but most the time these people are just as qualified as yourself. what the country needs is people doing more inspections of others work and the inspectors need to know what they're talking about.

In a proper comptent qualification, people who can't do decent jobs shouldn't be sitting there with their corgi qualification or whatever other silly name is now used that will no doubt confuse everyone who looks out for corgi.

some people don't have the advantage of seeking others peoples recommendations. And since you haven't a clue how to help the guy, don't post useless rubbish.

They may be as qualified as I am, they may be more qualified than I am, they could have every certificate under the sun, that doesn't mean they aren't cowboys.

Many can, they just prefer to do a 3 day job in one, and get paid for 2

Nonsense, this day and age all required advice is readily available, and more often than not free of charge; this forum is one very good example.
As you are clearly not competent, but just some busy body that can't quite cut it in the private industry, methinks I am better qualified to decide what is relevant than you ever will be.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all your replies, I actually purchased this boiler as it was replacing a 20 year old Worcester that had been trouble free!! Bad choice it seems now.

It is a Greenstar 24i junior and was fitted by a good plumbing firm who are Corgi registered and well known to us as giving good service.

I have already replaced the batteries twice, so think I can rule that option out, thank you though.

I am still confused as to why Worcester advised me it was the room stat when that works fine when the boiler is on constant, I have got a plumber coming put me a new time clock in tomorrow but if anyone thinks this is a waste of time I would be grateful to know

Many thanks

Then the industry has a huge problem and needs to be revised in a big way.

Ey? A job takes as long as it takes and if they don't do it properly the threat of potential inspection would surely help. The punishment should be loss of qualification pending re-examination.

I'm not talking about getting advice from here. I'm talking about the people out there who don't know anyone who has had work done and can;t get a recommendation. They rely on advertised services. I'm no busy body, i'm actually an end user and can obviously see things more clearly than you. You are qualified to advise so get on with it and bl00dy advise then; instead of cheap shots about poor installation and cowboys. Help the people posting here. If you have nothing but cheap shots to write about then don't bother replying to the original poster or anyone else for that matter.

Then surely the fault is with the programnmer?

(provided no wiring changes or damage have occurred since it last worked)

I am not a pro

Mando, The Greenstar 24 i Junior is actually a very good little budget boiler. I have fitted a few in the past where the budget has been tight. I have no problem in offering a five year guarantee on any junior that I fit.. Faults are usually few and far between but a boiler is a machine and machines can go wrong..

Though anything is possible, I would say it is fairly unlikely that 2 timers fail in 2 1/2 years without there being a reason. If the timer has died again, I suspect there is something else wrong that causes this.
Is it a standard WB timer? Digital or mechanical?
