Mysterious problem with heating

Just a guess here, was it a new boiler on an old system? Just wondering if there could be an old anti-gravity valve in pipe work that has now got stuck or blocked with the black sludge that shouldn't be there after only 3 years

Hi,

Is it possible that the pump is just worn (it does appear to work) or is it most likely to be sludge ?

Generally pumps either work or dont work.

However, its possible the performance has been degraded by debris blocking the impeller. That can also occur when cleaning products are added because debris can be loosened and circulate to the pump and block it.

If the pump isolating valves are working you could close them and remove just the pump head to see if the impeller is clear.
