Yep, but doesn't that mean the next tile above sits on that same batten at the bottom?

The batten is nailed to the roof on top of the nibs on the same plane as the tile batten bellow.
 
Got you, sorry I thought you meant literally on top of the tile :cautious: thanks for your patience with my daft questions(y)

Have your truss's come yet 23vc?
They have, and I've offered one up and I'm happy with the fit, I've gone a bit too shallow by about half a degree if that, but I can use furrings to fix that. Next step is to bed the top course of cut blocks and the wall plates then get the trusses up there and braced.
