"Twenty fines to be issued over No 10 lockdown parties"

However...

"The police will not be saying who is fined or confirming which events the fixed penalty notices relate to."

How come 'ordinary' people who broke the law were regularly named (some even lost jobs), whilst those higher up won't be?

"However, Downing Street has said it would say if the prime minister is among the recipients."

Has the nod been given?

Our local council publishes names and addresses of people issued penalty notices for cycling in the town centre, letting dogs off leads etc etc.

Blup

Do people get their details published when they get parking tickets or speeding fines? Same sh**

Not when you get a parking ticket. Not sure about speeding if the recipient just pays up, but if it goes to court they can be named in the media.

Speeding fines do get into the press is newsworthy.

If the clown Boris got fined then it is in the public interest as he is/was the captain of the ship making the rules, so if he has got fined, the police won't declare it but his office/he will have to as you can't hide something like that for a person in its position, fact

Lol. 'Name and shame' from Ms anonymous. Do they not have the same rights to privacy that you enjoy?

All the voted for politicians should be named , so people can decide on voting for next election - i know i would want to know and will be be sending an email and asking my local politicians and candidates.

Exactly. The bottom line, no one in their right mind would disagree that if the PM is fined/etc it is in the public interest and that is a fact.

My understanding is that if any MP/ministers inc the PM are fined, they will declare it themselves as it will be impossible to hide the fact.

About the fine, the people have to accept it and IMJ, the PM if he is fined and/or another minister them may opt to go to court so it will take longer but the pub;ic will see this as another insult to them.

We are in the end game of the war in the Ukraine but if the pm is fined, we will find out about it very soon and within 24 hours.

Conviction by magistrates maybe, but Fixed Penalties. I doubt it.

Our local paper named and shamed our council leader for a drug driving offence.

Fact.
Not something you tend to get offered an FPN for.

True as per my posts but it appears you have not noted the fact that most are talking about the PM. Boris made/approved the rules he was the capatain of the ship and along with him and other ministers banged on about "follow the rules," therefore it is clear that if he breached these rules and had a fine ie fixed penalty, millions of people in england will want to know if this man is a hypocrite

Perhaps don't take my word for it - ask the millions who have lost a loved one and/or their loved one is suffering from long Covid. I believe the millions that followed the law to the letter and last loved ones or longe term/perm weaker, and/or those that could not visit their loved ones in care homes and hospitals will agree with me that if Boris is fined along with those appearing on tv banging on about the rules, the people will ant to know about the fixed penalty.

A fixed penalty is only issued to those that have agreed they have broken the law, fact!!

The Council targets resources on anti social behaviour type offences, knowing that there are votes in naming and shaming. People are probably more angry reading about a cigarette tossed from a car window than someone getting beaten up on a Saturday night. It is inevitable that some/all of the staff affected will be disciplined/dismissed, which is a headache for the politicians who won't go. Not a big issue in the scheme of things but the public will remember all this at the next election.
