Iv moved to canada and im going to start my own plastering buisness in the next couple of months. the problem is people over here dont no much about intenal plastering (skimming mostly as its all timber frame) they all get there homes taped and jointed. so could you please give me a hand and think of a name for me. its called veneer plaster over here. so far iv got the silly name- stiff as a board. the inlaws name- stuck in the mud. and i have seen a name on the internet- plasterers of paris. as thats what people see it as over here, plaster of paris. Happy easter every1 :D

If no-one uses plasterers I think your name would be the last of your worries.

its not that they wont have it, it just that no one where i live or anywhere near by do it. the nearest place is about 5 hours away. iv worked out prices and there almost the same. some times more some times less dipending on the job size. i think i can sell it over here as its much more durable than board and a bit of mud.

How about 'Mud Monkey' with a picture of a chimp with a trowel on your van?

I like these sorts of things that get you noticed. If you went for name or initials no-one would take a second look - but a big piccie of a chimp plastering? "Well what's that all about?" the residents will say.

I like the idea, but make sure you find out local slang first - unlike some car manufacturers

Vauxhall Nova - "No Va' - won't go in Spanish

Pajero - " w4nk3r" in Spanish

and Ford naming "Escort" "Fiesta" after gentlemens's magazines etc

Will they relate "mud" etc to plastering in that region? I've never heard it used for plastering inmytime (London, Beds and Surrounding), only seen it on the internet.

We say 'muck' for render/mortar (Muck Monkey -I don't think so!!)

'Gear' or 'Stuff' for hardwall/ finish (Gear Monkey - Drug addict?)

There is a good van around our way (Bedfordshire), looks like a one man band or small outfit "Beds Spreads"

A friend I almost went into business ( we were at Uni together) wanted "Plastering By Degrees"

A decorator I know had " Altered Images"

Keep asking and playing around , something will click and a logo that involves a trowel and a monkey will work, just look at our own one on the board!

I've been having a look for plastering slang -

one I 've found is " a Face like a plasterer's radio"
