Morning all. We have just moved into our new house and we have a set of floor to ceiling wardrobes to fit however I am around 4 - 5 mm to short in my bedroom. I have removed the artex in the area the w/drobes are being fitted however I am still a little short.

My next thought is to remove the section of floorboards directly beneath the wardrobes and fit a piece of board (mdf/chip etc) flush with the two joists. This will give me an extra 3/4" (ish) which will be plenty.

Any of you guy carried out anything similar at all???

How thick is the ceiling? Lath and plaster or plasterboard. How thick are the existing floor boards?

How much extra do you need?

I was actually about 40mm too short to be able to build them laying down, then lift them into position.

I managed it though by lowering that section of floorboards so they were level with the joists. The original tongue and groove boards were a little over 3/4" so that has gave me enough room to be able to build them in position (stood up). Wasnt easy, but they are impressive wardrobes now they are up.
