So, to paraphrase.
You've done lots of research on the internet.
You've hacked off your supplier and the boiler installer, to latter wants nothing more to do with you. You've got another installer to quote, changed your mind again, got him to quote for a third option. You've returned your controls to Amazon. You've now got Vaillant round for a repair on the old unit.
Although your 'research' told you an F.75 on a Vaillant is virtually unfixable.
Tell your Vaillant group service technician this, as he drags his knuckles up the drive and fixes it first time.
You have now put 100% faith in this forum, and think OpenTherm is the key to efficiency and the future of boilers, even though it is now best part of 20 years old.
Research is based on facts, not opinions.
Which? boiler reviews are now based on member feedback with their own boilers - no testing has been done for some years; there's a fact for you.

Charging for quotes would certainly have these time wasters think twice about wasting people's time..

I only give free quotes by telephone.
Anything involving a visit I make a charge for.
It did not take long to realise that "quote collectors" use a fully documented specification and quote to see how much cheaper they can have it done by the East Europeans. Or even worse by the unregistered!

Just to remind you, that after getting advice from this forum you have elected to have your boiler repaired rather than replaced.
The forum has been very helpful to you. All you have done is rubbish the forum, and waste both retailers and tradesmens' time. You do not occupy the moral high ground.

Not much, AGAS. Someone harvested the choice goujons of knowledge from some of the forum regulars and then got the hump because the replies differed from what he wanted to hear.
In future, anyone buying their own nest or hive controls without the fitting option can work it out for themselves. If you don't know how to fit it, don't buy it from Amazon.
