Hi all,

I am looking to replace the sink in my bathroom. The sink we currently have is generally OK, but we're quite messy people and we tend to get water down the sides quite a bit! I feel that's mainly due to it being a round shaped sink. Pics below to illustrate:

I think a rectangular shaped sink would work better for us, especially if we could place it flush with the wall, by removing the small pillar on the right. That would also allow us to get a slightly larger sink that we currently have. I have already inspected inside the pillar and it's just empty (apart from a wooden frame holding it up).

I wanted to know, are there any drawbacks to doing this? Or does anyone have any other ideas?

One potential issue is that the waste pipe currently goes down the floor, so the new sink waste would be offset by a few cm to the right, but I'm guessing the pipe can be angled?

Can dog look leg waste maybe to line up. That's a big sink already vs something like a hand basin, but square would fit to wall.
I've also never linked bins in bathrooms. Just carry rubbish out with you. Or a roll of plastic bags for waste. Bins trap water and make cleaning less likely in that area.
We dry up bathroom when we leave with paper towel and window vac. Don't throw paper towel down toilet. Wet bathrooms cause condensation problems and mould in house so best to dry them up.
