New BIOS required

I flashed my computers BIOS, with the wrong set...and it failed. Obviously.

But my partners comp, is failing, due to loose memory, so idea is to use failed MB to restore her comp....How to get a NEW BIOS chip?

Nethelp suggests booting a comp with a good BIOS, then removing the bios chip, when live, then flashing the chip....sounds dangerous, and potentially lethal?

At the risk of abuse for pointing out the obvious - trawl EBay for an identical second hand motherboard. Odds are the BIOS chip will be transferable and okay even if the mobo itself is scrap.

Morning Moody. And yes I can be bothered to reply.

A LOT of modern pc's can be reflashed from a USB skick with the correct file stored in the root. Acer has the best recovery of all these issues i have seen so far.

From a totally dead machine, a few key strokes, it comes back to life.

Micky doesn't go in the electrics forum. He does make GD and the computer section funny, though. Have you seen his theories on 'USB double DIN'?

He got banned so he registered at least one other account to whine about it.
