Hello all. We have just had our old boiler changed to a new shiny Worcester Bosch. Open vented system. First day following installation the following occurred: rumbling and banging in pipes and hot water spluttering out expansion pipe in header tank. Obviously tank overflowed and exited all over our patio.

Called engineers and they sent out someone to turn down new pump to position 2. However the following morning the same problem. Boiler starts up, rumble and clanging in pipes and hot water shoots into header tank. Heating continues as normal for about 5 minutes then same thing happens, banging, clanging and into the header tank.

It also happens during the day if we turn up the room thermostat by two or three degrees. Has to be more than pump overrun surely?

Engineers booked to return on Monday and I'd appreciate any ideas beforehand. Hot water tank seems fine and no discolouration of water from hot taps.

Deffo like the above has said, I would be interested to see the configuration on the cold feed and vent.
