I went past a detached new house under construction this morning. All the walls are up and the roof timbers are on but what is the point of an RSJ in this position?
to support a low pitched roof that looks like it's been cut and pitched rather than trusses ? I hate low pitches they are all around my 60's estate, most are like a rough sea now !
There to support the roof due to the low pitch and, no doubt, quite a few tons of concrete tiles. The beam will be picked up and supported by the inner skin of blockwork and the outer rafters extend to form the overhanging roof ladder and soffit.
