New Building Regulations and original Victorian doors

Makes me think about a house my parents used to own.

Rooms in the "loft", no fire doors, no smoke alarms, high ceilings on first/second floors windows in "loft" were about 7m above ground level, one room in loft had no winodws and exit through another. Narrow and steep staircase to "loft". My bedroom was in the "loft" for a while.

It was built like that in about 1880 - servants quarters in the "loft".

Shows how standards have changed.

How they have changed? More like the standards that are in force now, where there weren't any before :p
