Hi there

I recently bought a house which was built in the 70's, it still has its original boiler, system etc. I want to replace it but have been given different advice from different people. Some are saying not to go for a Combi boiler as it may burst pipes or radiators etc as it is a pressurised system and the pipes are so old, Whereas others are saying thats a myth and a Combi will be fine and more efficient.

Any suggestions?

Could it burst my pipes?

We're using our second combi on a system that has been in place for 50 years. The only things that have changed over the years are the boilers. Our system was originally fired by a coal back boiler.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice, do you think its worth getting a combi, will it actually save me that much?

combi boiler is more eficcient to run and you can drain system an do a air presure test before presurising new boiler so if there is a leak its air not water leaking? you loose lots of space getting rid of loft tanks and hot water cylinder

BUT with a combi if it goes wrong you have no emersion heater on water tank for a back up?

Not sure wether you should go combi or not its a disscution us guys can talk about for ever just get the for against and choose
