New Central Heating pipe advice please.

no i had just read that manifolds were used on 10mm.
So why didn't you ask your installer? He is either good enough to trust his judgment, or he is not. Your post here clearly shows you do not trust him.

you mean 10mm was used off a manifold. you still havent said if any of the people quoting were oftec.

AS holty says why are talking about corgi they have nothing to do with being qualied to fit what you are buyin...... not by any chance doing it all yourself

bengasman, stop trying to bait me. nothing constructive to say , dont say anything.

Holty honestly no idea about OFTEC, ill have to have a look at their business cards, tomorrow.

NO i am not doing it myself.

look sorry to have obviously annoyed you, if i could delete the topic i would.

No one on here minds giving advice and providing people are honest it will be forth coming but when they get an inclin that something is not quite right( rightly or wrongly) they will jump straight down your throat

id definetly find out if they are oftec.i find some gas fitters dont take oil seriously, they dont have the equipment to commision them and the install doesnt apply with regs.id be surprised if i saw them use a set of gauges a smoke pump and an oil analyser to set the burner up.

depending on where the rads are in relation to the main 22mm flow and returns it would be perfectly acceptable to use 22mm tees reducing down to 10mm without using manifolds

it was a honest question, whether i am believed or not :(
Of course it was an honest question.
What causes the ridicule is that you tell you don't trust people who take your money, you don't really trust the judgment of the guy you chose, who happens to be the cheapest, and then you come on here to find out how it should be done.
Add that to the fact that you claim legitimacy by stating that all installers were corgi registered, whilst corgi ceased to be of importance for gas months ago, and no bonafide gasinstaller would work on an oilboiler unless he was oftec registered as well. And he certainly would have explained the difference.
It may or may not be kosher, but the whole story has the smell of a cowboy job.

even worse when your juggling hot baffles about, due to the customer keeping the dam thing on till the last ten minutes

Bit like going to a cooker and being told what burner is not working pickin up the pan support as you hear your fingers sizzle then gettin told careful i have just been using it.

Well where we currently are living, it is propane GAS, and when we had the boiler installed 11 yrs ago, it was CORGI, so taking that at face value i just thought corgi, obviously wrongly so. The engineer who installed our boiler is the same i am looking to use now.
All i can do is check his business card tomorrow which i left with the others at the new property. I was mainly curious as this is a complete new install and i guess i am just nosey and did not want to sound like a ass by picking the engineers brain about somethingn that may have been stupid to ask.
so i looked like a ass here instead, go figure. :(

you can use manifolds, in fact used them all the time.....

22mmX 4 10mm "pipes" coming off them and 10mm straights to connect microbore to.

last time i looked (about 18 months ago) they were £60 plus vat

f**k that
what prices were you quoted for fitting system?
what price is your heatpack?
