Did you use pressure treated timber?
Did you treat the cut ends?
In either case there are a number of decking treatments on the market you could use, ronseal, cuprinol etc even thompsons waterseal can be used on wood, and is clear if you like the wood colour.

would advise treating any cut end grain. if you look through the cross section where cut you should be able to see the depth the treatment has soaked in.
