Hi
2 year old potterton gas promax 24HE plus will not restart on the room thermostat, but can be reset by the reset switch.

Oddly, the display shows error E186 ( not on the list I have.)

Any ideas, please

this is from a forum i read about yr ago.

>I've been getting the same error on a new (fitted end Sept) 28 HE Combi and have now had a couple of visits from the manufacturer's engineers.

Although the code indicates an internal error on the control board they now think that the error is in another component, but the control board doesn't understand the error it is getting so reports an internal error.

All the control boards that have shown this error are perfectly OK when returned and tested.

They haven't managed to reproduce the error on a test rig, so are left with a process of elimination on customer's boilers: changing other components and seeing whether the error still occurs. At the last visit here I think they changed the the igniter and the gas valve - no problem so far after three days, but it went nearly three weeks before showing the error last time.

Thats e168 not e186 though?
