New EU digital border checks

Meanwhile their vote is now costing the UK approximately 2/3 of the defence budget in lost trade with the EU alone...

Cobblers. Trade is getting better with the EU. Remember, they need our trade.

Strange how Spiv and the boneheads have yet to show us a 'brexit benefit'...

Number one benefit as far as many on this forum were concerned was that you promised that you were leaving this country and this forum because of the result of the referendum. You'd packed your furniture in a container and purchased your one-way tickets for yourself and all your family. Remember? Six years on and you’re still here, still whining. I blame Iceland for refusing you residency. Apparently they have enough care home bum wipers. Ever thought of improving yourself? Traffic warden maybe?

Did you read the article you linked to?
I don't think you could have.
While there are no tariffs on trade in goods with the EU, subject to certain conditions, other barriers to trade are now higher
...
UK goods exports to the EU fell sharply in January 2021 after the end of the Brexit transition period, before recovering strongly in February 2021. Goods exports to the EU remain below their pre-pandemic/Brexit level,
...
In 2024, the EU accounted for 41% of the UK’s exports (48% of goods exports and 36% of services exports). This share has been broadly stable over the last few years, although down from 47% in 2010 and 2011.

From your article.
It clearly shows that trade with non-EU has substantially increased, whereas trade with the EU has substantially decreased.
This will obviously have increased costs, affected the Climate Change objectives, and made the trade routes more congested and more vulnerable.

In addition all-in-all, one has to search hard to find true comparisons of before and after Brexit comparisons.
The report looks to have been written to hide a true reflection of relaity.

Brexiteers told us that we would 'take back control of our borders'...

Immigration figures clearly show the opposite...

And had we still been in the EU, visitors from outside the zone would have been required to give their fingerprints etc on coming to the UK...

Instead all EU citizens (and from many other countries) can come to the UK without having to do so...

Thus which country/area has more robust border controls?

UK is introducing a digital Visa, ETA, linked to the passport of the holder.
But it's confusing for English speakers. How non-English speakers will understand it, who knows.
Here's an example of the information:
An ETA is a digital permission to travel – it is not a visa or a tax and does not permit entry into the UK – it authorises a person to travel to the UK.

You can travel to the UK, but you can't enter the UK. :?::?:

And it costs £10 biyearly.

So it's a fee to allow you to apply for a visa??
