New gas meter coming - advice needed

We completed on our first house on Friday and let's just say the previous tenant wasn't exactly on top of the bills when he fled owing the previous owner rent. After wading through several final demands/bailiff letters we got round to taking the electricity and gas meter readings only to find... no gas meter. It had been removed by British Gas because the bill hadn't been paid.

So, several phone calls later, BG will be coming round in a few days to fit another one. Trouble is the meter's old location is in a seriously annoying spot for our new kitchen configuration. Changing the kitchen layout isn't an option so we need to shift the meter. From what others are saying the meter can go anywhere in range of the anaconda or flexible pipe that goes into the meter. unfortunately the piping that's there isn't very long - about a foot or so. A 1m long pipe would give us the range we need to get the meter in a more convenient spot.

So - my question: Can we get a gas fitter to come round before BG arrive to fit a longer anaconda? And if so, what's the limit on their length?

Thanks in advance!

Dan

If the anaconda is on the supply side from the mains in the street, only transco can alter it,

Internal pipes for domestic pipework can be altered by any RGI.

Get a corgi with the met1 element and has half a clue. With met1 he can extend from the ECV in copper and then refit anaconder in the new location with s secondary ECV and a NOTICE if the location of the primary ecv which MUST be fully accessable.
Yeeh hah
