Afternoon

As you can see I am newbie here so hello!

We bought our house new approx. 6 years ago and it came fitted with an SME LD20-D leak detector. At the time it appeared to be quite an impressive device and a very good idea but after a while it just became a bit of a pain.

At this point we switched off the electronic part all together, this was about 4 years ago now. And our system was in effect as everyone else's - if we needed to shut off water we would do under the sink.

Anyway over the last few months a couple of problems have arisen and I would say they started together.

The first was that at random times of the day and night one of the toilet cisterns would fill only for about 5 secs and the shut off. After doing some searching it would seem there is a slight leak from the ensuite cistern meaning that a slow trickle of water runs from the cistern into the pan. I think the reason the cistern was making a noise is because there was a drop in the level.

The second problem is the valve u deer the sink which controls water into the house, was previously linked the electronic gadget in the wall - which we switched off.

On numerous occasions in the day and night the water is off and we have to turn the valve clockwise to open it up and allow the taps etc. to function??

Can anyone suggest why this might be? As far as I am concerned that should only work in the event of a leak and then it should only work if the electronic part is plugged in??

Any help would be much appreciated as I don't really want to get soneonein just yet before I can rule things out myself.

Thanks in advance

Si
