New internal door strike plate hole

Just bought 2 new half glazed doors to let some light into the kitchen and hallway but noticed are current doors strike plate shape.

Is this going to be something I could do without a jig or would it be easier to just buy a new plate (rectangular shaped)

Ive got new doors and was wondering how easy it would be to chisel in the old lock.

Or would it be easier getting a rectangular shaped one

If you mean you were thinking of using your old latches in the new door then you'll need a router and a 25mm(I think) router bit, easier to change to rectangular latches

I see no point in a DIYer buying a router and learning to use it for this job.

Yes, a chisel will be easier and cheaper for you.
