new kitchen floor while kitchen in use - BAU (Business as usual)

Hi,

We need to do kitchen flooring with new porcelin tiles. The kitchen currently have existing tiles which needs to be removed. My question is, with kitchen in use (BAU) how do we go about this project? All the other storage cabinates can be removed (and things can be stored in temp. storage containers) and tiles on the floor can be accessed but what about tiles under the gas hob, sink etc. With kids we need kitchen even with bare min. functions.

Any thoughts how do people work around this kind of project?

Send the wife and kids to her mum for the week? Get them to gave a camping holiday in the garden for the week? TBH this is the scenario some trade kitchen fitters dread/hate.

Replacing tiles with kitchen in situ is not too difficult, even if the customer wants tiling under the cabinets.
The cabinet legs can be lifted safely one at the time.
I used a trick to fit tiles under the legs and reposition the legs immediately so to carry on with the work.
I would mark on the tile where the leg is, then position spacers underneath in the corresponding spot.
Then fit the tile as normal and unscrew the leg, now supported by the tile and spacers underneath so the adhesive is not squashed out.
Carry on with all legs.
Under the cooker and other appliances is even easier, pull them out, tile and reposition; better done at the end.
End panels are a bit more complicated because they will need cutting or tiled around.
Very doable.

Unfortunately we dont have any extended family otherwise this wasnt going to be an issue.

We managed for months whilst builders were in with a microwave, slow cooker and camping stove. Gas main had to be moved, kitchen extended and then rewired, plastered etc. Tiling was done half at a time so that cabinets could be accessed from tiles laid the day before.

Move the existing sink somewhere else and fit temporary pipework.
Easy enough with plastic.

As above, used old kitchen sink with a bucket under the drain pipe and fetched water from the bathroom

This might be a stupid question but do you put tiles first or have new kitchen cabinates installed ?
Or is it: remove old cabinates -> remove existing tiles -> Install new cabinates -> put new tiles?
Which is better way?

Better way is to remove everything, lay new tiles everywhere and then install cabinets.
Cheap way is to tile at the end, up to cabinets' legs.
