Want to remove centre pendant and install downlights spaced around the room.

In the past, we would have simply JB'd at the ceiling rose position, fished cables across & plastered the hole.

Cables won't reach any new positions, and can't encase JB's no more!

I beg for an solution.

Surely one of the cables from the fitting must reach one of the new light positions (cf. evenly spaced), even if (two way) the other one will only reach a different one - just have to pull three core and earth between these two then and then rod out for the others... or have I missed something?

unfortunately not so.

A plan of the room with the light switch & feed at 12 O'clock position. Both cables running directly to the centre.

Two new light positions. One at 3 O'clock, a second at 9 O'clock.

You sure that's going to give enough light anyway? I assume it's a flat or something and that there's no access from above?

Actualy it's a tiny kitchen.

Decided to leave centre position for 3rd light & solve problem.

Thanks anyway Sean

anymore?... I wasn't aware that you ever could use inacessable screwed connections, of course people who were ignorant of the regulations just did it anyway!

Oh, and perhaps under a floor is less accessible than it once was, these days people might laminate over it!, wheres a couple of decades ago the only thing over the top might be a carpet that could easily be lifted (still not totally accessable, but better than below laminate!)
