New loft conversion causing heating problems .....

how exactly has the new radiator been teed into the heating system. as no heating pipes would be in the loft, accept for the vent and cold feed.??
The loop would have to be teed into the flow after the heating MV and on the return after the cylinder return. If done wrong the upstairs rad would always be on whenever the boiler is on and would leech all heat out of the cylinder coil.

the radiator looks to be teed into the system ok, i've uploaded pics if you can make anything from them.

I've taken the screw out but still can't tell if it's spinning, it certainley isn't making any noise. A little water did come out when i opened it but how can i tell if it's spinning or not?

i've just checked the pump again and it doesn't seem to be spinning. SHould this be obvious when i've opened the centre screw?

when you take off "the big silver screw" shine a torch into the hole, what you can see is the shaft of the pump rotor, using a small flat bladed driver you should be able to rotate the shaft very freely, if its pretty stiff its on its way out or goosed

and of course it should be rotating

OK this has got me puzzled, looked again at the pump, wasn’t spinning. Because of the system miraculously coming back to life a fortnight ago I’m still questioning whether I have any problem with the hardware at all. I’ve had a new consumer unit fitter with the conversion and had an idea that they might have rigged the pump up to a fuse in the box which they haven’t labelled. Thinking it may have tripped (due to no noise, or rotation) I flicked all the blank trip switches on before I went to bed. Hey presto the bloody heating came back on last night. I haven’t got a clue where the fault lies. Confused.com

Not all the radiators are hot so i may need to balance, however, i wish i knew what the problem is...

i feel like a bit of a ****** with all this but you don't know how much i appreicate the help you have given already.

how things have developed has made me realise that all the system parts work and I think it's a problem with the power to my pump. fingers crossed, that is the problem I suppose time will tell.

I need to rebalance the system, however, please could someone advise on how i alter the speed of my pump if i need to!? Is it altered by the centre screw?

if you think there is no power to the pump a simple check at pump terminals will prove if there is power there or not,

if you do not own a multimeter or are wary of checking live electricity, defer to an electrician/htg engineer

to change pump speed depends on pump make

Grrrr!

Just installed the new towel warmer and it's gone off again...can't believe it. No life in the pump again....what is the problem, why does it work and then when i switch or add to it, the pump doesn't respond?

Speed wise it's a Grundfos super4 (see pics) i cant work out how to alter the speed! Can any one help?
