Hi all, my current mower is a Husqvarna Royal 53S, as shown above.

Notice that part of the blade is "outside" the wheels on the left hand side (RHS of this pic), which is very useful for cutting edges of the garden without the mower falling down into the rut at the side of the flowerbeds.

Do any modern mowers have a similar setup?

Cheers

They aren't too common as most folks manage with a rollered mower, rather than a wheeled one, but they do exist.....the Masport Maxicut is one, Briggs Intek motor I think - just like your Husky!

Thanks John,

So do most new mowers have a rear roller now, not rear wheels? I'm presuming cheaper mowers will just have rear wheels?

Strangly mine has a Kawasaki motor, which I've not seen before.

The more expensive mowers tend to have a rear roller......it can give a better finish to a lawn, if that's important to you. Of course, its significantly more expensive than the wheeled variety! The buyers choice, obviously.
Kawasaki motors do turn up from time to time......even Suzuki and Yamaha do small engines on occasion. I even came across a Subaru recently!

The bosch rotak electric ones have an over hang deck which cuts outside the wheel a bit. Not much use if your garden is big though. A roller mower will redcue scalping on edges but they are more expensive and more maintenance heavy than a wheeled mower
