Hi,

I have recently had a few rooms plastered and am now waiting for the skim to dry in order to paint. The plasterer told me that a new plaster paint sould be used after a couple of weeks followed by our chosen emulsion, which seemed reasonable.
However, I was told at our local B&Q that a watered down emulsion would be suitable for the first coat after a couple of weeks drying, so who is right?
I am inclined to believe the plasterer... 8)

So B&Q were right after all?
I wouldn't rely on that every time! :?

You can use either it’s just that watered down emulsion is just as good & is cheaper; use cheap own brand matt white, thinned 25-30%; apply 2/3 coats in quick succession, without letting it dry out in between. Once full dry you can apply your chosen finish.

I am -------- a plasterer!
