I am looking at a refit to the bathroom which includes a new shower mixer, riser rail, etc. There is a possibility of fitting a rainfall head

The HW is gravity fed and so I wondered if this still good enough for a standard riser rail or would a pump be better particularly with the rainfall head? We have a water saving shower head at the moment so it is not easy to judge if the pressure is good enough. I am happy - not sure about SWMBO

Any suggestions gratefully received

Most gravity hot water would give very poor performance with a rain head shower, and fitting a pump would be the way to go.
What is your current showers performance like ?

As it has a water saving head it is OK for me - a pump would be overkill. The original head was not restricted and I thought OK for the job

I have also heard the rainfall showers use a heck of a lot of water with a pump attached

With a rainfall shower head and 1metre head of water supplying it , you won't get much flow !
