Hi,

We have fitted a new three point valve (Drayton) however everytime the hot water is on the heating is also coming on. We didn't have this previously - both worked ok on their own.

Any ideas what may be causing this?

Thanks

Drayton are crap!
If it was all working previously why did you change it? (as 45years asked).
Did you change the whole valve or just the head?

I believe it was the motor which went in the one we had - we replaced the entire part.
before the motor went we were able to get hot water and heating separately - thanks for the advice we will check the wiring on it.

Hopefully the valve is fitted the correct way round?

Did you fit each wire to the same place as the old one or did you try to rewire it according to the diagram?

Tony

We refitted the wires to the same place as the old one - the instructions provided are very poor and unclear.

Thank you

If it is a wiring fault it is likely the white wire is connected to the wrong place. My guess is it is connected to HW on instead of Heating on.

Thanks for your help - port a and b were round the wrong way - we have changed this and now we can't get the boiler to ignite at all! It stopped igniting just for a day before we changed the valve to the right way round. Think I will have to call someone out!

I would call a heating engineer rather than the very general term "plumber"!
