When fitting new trv's in place of conventional valves is it recommended to buy a new matching locksheild with the trv and fit the two as a set?
Or is it ok to make use of the existing locksheild if its in goog condition?

It's fine to use the old one, but for the sake of a few quid, I would change the LS, you might need to use it one day.

Where the cost is important then if still in good condition many people do not change the lockshield valve.

In contrast many take the opportunity to fit matching lockshields for the visual aspect.

Others change the lockshield but only if they are going to put the TRV on a different end. The location of the TRV is subject to some technical aspects and often to some personal ideas.

Cheers guys.
On the note of the actual trvs im looking at drayton trv4 as there are already some of those fitted around the house.

The house has a mix.of 15 mm and 10 mm pipe work.
The new valves I want to fit are for the rads on 10mm pipework.
Anyone know if the trv 4 comes in a 10mm version? Or is it a 15 mm version with some sort of adapter
From what in can see they just use a 15mm body with some sort of adapter

The Drayton TRV4s are excellent and my first choice for both appearance and reliability.

They are made for 15 mm pipework but available with a reducing bush for 10 mm pipework.

I THINK they all come with the 10 mm conversion but do check when buying.
