Have had TRV fitted and it doesn't seem to be workin properly.The rad is either hot or cold , have looked in FAQ's but didn't spot an answer.CheersWW

The TRV is a valve, it is open or closed, hot or cold. When room cools down it will open, and provided heating is on, get hot. When room heats up it will close and rad will cool...

Yes , the room stat is in the hall , the rad is in the bedroom. The prob seems to be that i want to set the TRV on 3 but as i say it is then either hot or cold there appears to be no happy medium.Cheers WW.

Is it bi-directional?
If not bi-directional, is it on the flow?
What was the condition of the water that was drained from the system?

TVR is new .It is a Danfoss Lifestyle . Not sure about answers to rest , just to say it is a new rad and had a new combi fitted 2 weeks ago.
set valve on 3 open all the other trv`s to max..turn up the roomstat to full....monitor the rad in question ..keep the door to that room shut .. rest of house should get hot ...that room should stay @ roughly what 3corresponds to
Is it a "RA-FS" valve? If so then it's bi-directional, but I have a suspicion that other Danfoss TRVs are not, in which event you'd need to determine whether or not it's fitted to the flow side of the radiator.waynesworld said:
Starting the system from cold, hold both pipes at that radiator until one of them gets hot. That will be the flow.
If the TRV is on the flow, or it's bi-directional, and it isn't working properly, then either the valve is sticking or the head is faulty.
If you have an identical valve elsewhere in the home then swap the heads and see if the symptom transfers to the other rad.

The amount of times customers say i have that trv on 2 and that one on 4 and the rads feels the same temp.. 
I don't subscribe to this idea that a non-faulty TRV can only be open or closed. It isn't operated by a solenoid, but by a mechanism with a fairly specific thermal coefficient.
A TRV can quite easily, therefore, be partially open.
Insisting that the OP has been given the answer, when he's only posted information and is doing his best to answer further questions, is foolish and unhelpful.

The reason i posted was to get help , that is what this forum is for.I apologise for not noticing that i had been given the correct answer TWICE, i am not the expert. WW.
