New zanussi strange filling

I recently bought a new zanussi zwf1210(finally got rid of the whirlpool!) washing machine, when the machine is filling at the beginning of the cycle it starts to fill and then stops for a few seconds and then carries on filling, is this normal behaviour or a fault with the machine? also after its finished spinning at the end of the cycle the spin light stays on for about a minute and then the end light comes on and the door unlocks. I know I may sound a bit dumb but after owning a candy for the last 15 years! it sounds somewhat different
