Manchester CC LABC say in their literature that their PP inspection is not an electrical check. They say that you are required to arrange an inspect and test yourself via an NIC/ECA/CPS spark.

Do all LABC's do this?

They also say that a bedroom with a shower in it is a special location, and that all installs must comply with both PP and BS7671.

MCC insist on minor works certs for all minor work. Why, if they are exempt?

They are not allowed to refuse to arrange to perform the tests themselves, even if they arrange subcontractors who are NIc or whatever.

Chat to LABC-services who regulate them. ([urlhttp://www.labc-services.co.uk/contactus/default.asp?editorial_id=13869][/url]) and see what they say about it.

(mind you they can still charge an arm and a leg ot subcontract.)
And ask the local authority why they are not following the District Surveyors Association guidelines - they dont have to, but really they need a reason - it would be nice to know what that reason is.
