wall stat clicks, ch pump runs, but boiler wont fire. in central heating mode. works ok on water only but rads are getting warm. it looks like the 3 port has been change in the last few years possibly head only this causing the 3 port to be open slightly i.e build up of crap round the ports..

That doesn't sound right since the same S/L from the 3PV should run the pump and the boiler.

As Elite says, check wiring and check cyl stat wiring. Sounds as 3 port valve has been wired up wrong

would that cause the rads to get hot tho.. And has anyone got the correct wiring diagram so i can check all wires thanks chaps..

NO. You need to find a wiring diagram for a Y plan. Search the same site I would think
