No hot water or heating! Please help!

I have a back boiler, the pilot light is on and it is firing up, but the heating and hot water is not working. I have no idea what to do, and it's only suddenly gone off. Can anyone give me any advice please - I can trial and error as we speak, I'm here right now.

is the main burner on
check if the pump is working( if fitted)
try zone valves by opening to manualy
