Hi

I recently installed a hive on my Worcester greenstar system boiler.

When I turn on the hot water the light on the hive comes on. Same with the heating so all working fine there.

The heating comes on during the night so always have hot water in the morning but by mid day there is no hot water and it seems because the heating is not coming on there is no hot water. When I put the heating on and wait an hour some hot water appears again so for some reason I only get hot water when the heating has been on.

Any ideas

Post a photo of your wiring, explain the type of system you have, eg 2 port valves, or 3 port mid position valve, did you set the Hive up as gravity?

Hi CBW

It is 2 port valves

Some pictures attached

It's like the hot water tank doesn't work without the heating coming on

  • Did it work ok before you installed the Hive?
  • Did you set it to gravity?
  • Can you post a photo of Hive wiring?
  • Did you alter any wiring in the wiring center?

It was a drayton in before which I believe would have worked but I have not long moved into the house.

I'm unsure what you mean by gravity?

No changes were made in the wiring centre

I have a brown coming from HW tank to 15 (COM) then a red from 15 to 10 (HW on) then black from 10 to number 3 on hive receiver (HW on)

Blue coming from HW tank to 14 (CALL) then red from 14 to 8 (HW off) the goes to HW tank valve

In the Hive setup, I believe you tell it what system you have, one being gravity. It’s definitely the Hive dual channel?

Hot water off isn’t used in an S plan, which you have.

I haven't changed anything at the wiring centre that's how it was before I installed hive.

I'm trying to figure out what is linked between the boiler and the HW tank that when I turn the boiler on I also get HW

Ok, go to the cylinder cupboard, and providing there’s no call for heating or hot water, check the zone valves positioning, I’m thinking the zone valve is stuck open, likely to be the Drayton, so when you’re getting heating, that’s when it’s heating the cylinder.

Yeh it's only heating the cylinder when the heating itself is on. Although I have my settings in the hive app to always have the HW on and shows its always on on the receiver light but obviously isn't.

Not sure about these
