I have a Baxi Solo 2 50 pf boiler which has suddenly stopped heating the water.

There are 5 lights on the boiler:
overheat - off
boiler - on
fan - off
pilot - off
burner - off

I'm thinking the burner light should come on yes? What would prevent that?
Other thoughts are the cylinder stat, or the diverter, but the pipe coming out of the boiler is not heating up.

Also I've downloaded the user manual

but my boiler does not seem to have the gas control knob or ignighter button where the user guide says they should be (right of the thermostat) which is strange. Where might they be hidden!?

I would be looking at a motorised valve before the boiler. Does the heating work?

That's because you have the wrong manual for your boiler. Looking at the photo of your boiler, and the first line of your initial post where you state that you have the PF version, you are looking at the RS version manual. The PF version of the manual is here. Your boiler doesn't have an igniter or pilot light that the RS version does.

Based on the below:
There are 5 lights on the boiler:
overheat - off
boiler - on
fan - off
pilot - off
burner - off

The 'boiler on' light comes on when the boiler is being told to run by either the HW or CH. Therefore, if the light highlighted below is 'on'

The external controls / motorised valve are telling the boiler to 'run'. As the lights come on in sequence, the next step should be 'fan on' and as it's not, we're back to:

Your boiler is the fanned flue model, not a diy repair unfortunately
It's most likely the fan, but could be a pressure switch that occasionally can fail in a certain way, or possibly the PCB. You will need an RGI to do the work though. As @cross thread it's not a DIY fix.
