In volts. Iv got 230 live neutral. Nothing on the earth to live and some volts

Well, carrying out a loop test would be preferred to measuring the volts!
It sounds like the earth conductor has somehow become damaged, broken or disconnected between the origin (meter) and the CU.
OR
The CU has been setup as a TT arrangement, and the earth is connected to a poorly installed, damaged, or non-existent earth rod. Is there a main RCD in use?

The sockets work but the tester says reversed neutral. And the water heater will trp off then it's turned on it's a new board with rcd. Thank u so much for the help
The bc are coming offer the job to test. I think it's missing earth but then I don't get why there is reversed and it's not coming up with missing earth
Who fitted and connected this "new board" ?
If it was a competent electrician then all these problems would (should) have been found and repaired by that electrician before he or she left site.
It was a young lad and he dident really no and has left me with this so I'm trying to work out what is wrong so I can get some 1 in and I know what needs doing and there not making a bigger job

How did you come across this electrician? Is he part of a larger company? Is he accredited with a competent persons scheme?
Hopefully you've just got an ex-apprentice who's been let out by himself too early (have a word with his employer still), but if you've picked this guy off the streets or from your local then, well, you get what you pay for.

He said building control can sign it off when done. So when I get some one else in what should he say needs doing. And he will not try and make a bigger job out of it. Thanks for all the help. Just hope some can sort it out
OK so who's paid the fee to building control, you or him? This should have been done before the work started.

I paid because he fitted a lintal. I understand the problem should of been picked up befor. What will the next guy I get in say will it be a full rewire or just the earth wire changing.

What paperwork did he give you? Are there any logos on it, e.g. NAPIT or NICEIC?
You probably don't need a full rewire but only the guy who comes in next can tell you that. Can you please post a photo of the board that's been installed?

Benze, if you want our help stop being so defensive. Answer the questions raised, photograph the maincu, and intake / meter point and let's go from there.
