hi i drained down combi boiler to fit new
radiator.

filled boiler switched on stays on for about 15 seconds
and switches it self of and makes a noise

any ideas thanks.

Have you opened the isolation valves under the boiler and topped up the pressure to 1.3 bar or so, if so then explain a little more regards what it does when you switch it on and try hot water .

It sounds as if you have air in the boiler.

Its more sensible to isolate boiler at its valves when draining the system to avoid getting much air into the boiler.

Its also sensible to turn off rad valves on the rest for the same reason. Apart from air problems it also conserves inhibitor!
