I have a Baxi Bahama 100 combi boiler, when the fan is running it vibrates the the caseing making a buzing noise which wakes you up in the adjoining room. I have checked the fan which seems to be fine not to loose etc, it has done this from new.
Can I use some sound insulation attached to the inner casing if so which type of insulation. Is it normal for this boiler.

Many thanks

Andy

NO! Don't add anything. A corgi will have to try refixing things - but it may need a new fan. If its in gtee call the manufacturer.

I found that pressing down firmly on the top of the boiler casing between the flue outlet and the automatic air vent helped to dampen down the vibration noise on my Baxi Bahama.

I then substituted my fingers for a brick (on it's end) which seems to provide just about the same amount of pressure as a firm finger press !

OK - that's the noise problem sorted. Only the leaking expansion vessel / random shut-downs / dodgy ECS board problems to sort out now !

I was called by someone today who wanted me to come to one of these! It turned out that he is either a boiler fixer or an extreme DIYer.

He has already replaced many parts including the two PCBs. Knowing that his breed did not spend £180 on PCBs, I asked where he got them. He replied with the name of a dogey place in NW London that repairs parts. I told him that there is no way of knowing if they are working. He replied that his "electrician" has tested them. I had to tell him that unless he had a complete boiler to substitute them in then he has no way of testing them.

I knew that this was the kind of landlord that does not want to spend money and thinks he can use dodgey repaired parts to repair boilers so I declined to look at it and suggested he replaced the boiler instead which he said he would do ( but probably will not ).
