Firstly thanks to those who answered my question ref the thermostat.

Throughout the day we get an awful noise from the pipes in our airing cupboard. There is loud knocking followed by gurgling noises in the pipe to the expansion tank in the loft while hot water is being shot into the tank at a terrific pressure which is then followed by what sounds like water forcing its way through another pipe next to it. The water pump appears to be working at the three speeds when tested and is approx two years old, the whole system was flushed this time last year and a huge amount of muck came out, the system was then treated with a rust prohibiter. I have drained the system myself and only clear water came out, all radiators have been bled and get hot all over.Any ideas please :)
