Hi

Strange question, but recently we've noticed that there is a fairly loud noise coming from what seems to be the upstairs chimney breast. We live in a victorian terrace with an open fire on the top of a hill, so could just be the wind, but it sounds just like central heaing pipes bubbling/knocking - when you put your ear up against the chimney breast though it gets much louder.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Pete

Has the chimney been lined with stainless steel flu and is there a cawl?

He means cowl.

Richard is from Cornwall so they have their own language if you know what i mean...

When the night wind howls
In the chimney cowls,
And the bat in the moonlight flies,
And the inky clouds,
Like funeral shrouds,
Sail over the midnight skies--

Ye come outa the pub , with a cold in yer Nub , " Oh bug ger I left open my flies"
