My car a vauxhall corsa ls auto 1996 has started to make a very loud screeching sound. I only had its m.o.t. done two weeks ago and it got the all clear. It mostly makes this noise when i first start it,although it did it in the middle of my journey today. I cant afford to go to the garage with it ,anyone got any ideas.

My car a vauxhall corsa ls auto 1996 has started to make a very loud screeching sound. I only had its m.o.t. done two weeks ago and it got the all clear. It mostly makes this noise when i first start it,although it did it in the middle of my journey today. I cant afford to go to the garage with it ,anyone got any ideas.sounds like a slipping alternator belt,relatively easy fix by either tightening,or probably better to get a new one fitted
